Amy Hooper

Amy Hooper is a singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist based in Austin, Texas. Originally trained as a flutist, her musical background includes a diverse array of genres such as classical, contemporary Christian, piano pop, Americana, and country. After years as a backup vocalist and utility player, she released a full solo project in 2016 entitled ‘Winter Kind of Spring”. The original Christmas worship song “Emmanuel” released in 2020, and the fun excursion into synthy piano pop “Toll On My Heart” in 2021. To commemorate the 4th anniversary of 5Twelve City Church, the hymnlike “Tell Me Your Story of Jesus” released in 2022.

In 2023, Amy released the indie worship EP “No More Useless Fires” which also includes the instrumental sketch “30 Years”. Recorded by Nashville Music Scoring at Ocean Way Studios, “30 Years” was orchestrated by David Shipps, who just happens to be her little brother! Amy’s upcoming 2024 releases include collaborations with J.J. Plasencio and frequent co-writer Chris Beall, as well as a few fan favorites road-tested on her Twitch livestreams.

As a songwriter, Amy has written with The South Austin Moonlighters’ Chris Beall and Lonnie Trevino, Steph MacLeod, Dossey, Ellyn Oliver, Solis, Jo James, Candy Coburn, and more. She co-wrote the nationally charting title track “Travel Light” with Chris Beall for The South Austin Moonlighters’ 2019 Americana album, as well as fan favorites “Cartersville Rain” and “Born Lucky.” Amy’s 2016 track “Never the Twain Shall Meet” was selected as an Americana semi-finalist in the international Unsigned Only songwriting competition. “Toll on My Heart” was selected as a semi-finalist in two categories (Adult Contemporary and Christian) in 2021.

Amy aspires to connect with the listener on a deep emotional level to inspire, explore truth, and encourage. She also really tries to learn or at least acquire a new instrument or two every year. Recent additions to the family include an accordion, a thumb piano, and a twelve-string guitar!

Amy is the former Music Director at 5Twelve City Church Austin, now staff with Shoreline Church, as well as a life coach with The Forward Foundation.
